My dear friend Carolyn JUST had a baby and this new mama was so sweet to send me the sites she values most when designing someone’s home for them. This NYC based interior designing whiz has an incredible apt in TriBeCa and great taste to boot. So sit back and enjoy and imagine what you’re home needs for it’s own resolution this new year.
Julian Chichester’s site houses his $$ Contemporary English furniture. If you can afford this stuff- it’s worth every cent.
Looking for something a little more affordable (aren’t we all?), then head to his other site Mr. Brown
But make sure you check out his screenprints. I love these!
Wanting to be more organized and actually doing something about it are very far apart in my mind. Carolyn likes to use this site– See Jane Work- and I must force myself to try. When I look at a blank pad of paper for to-do lists, I zone out for like 5 minutes thinking about where to start the list, then my adult ADD kicks in and I’m already off doing something not on the list.
Flavor Paper’s wallpaper is incredibly cool. Carolyn used their faux bois several years ago for her second bedroom (and now Charlotte’s nursery). This Brooklyn based team hand screenprints each piece of wallpaper and produced to order so you can change colors and scale for custom paper. Love that!
Walls Need Love does wall decals, which is your most affordable and flexible option – great for new to NYC renters and kids’ rooms.
I have my eye on this-
Best design tip: find go with a designer friend to the NY Gift Show, a trade show at Javits Center in January & August featuring HUNDREDS of fabulous furniture, accessory and lighting sources. Not only can you buy items at wholesale pricing, but you can preview what retailers such as ABC Home and Mecox Home & Garden will carry 3 months later!
